The fifth part of the Star Decals line devoted to the naval infantry is, unlike the mixed sets, aimed at a single type: the Russian BTR-80 armored personnel carrier in 1:35 scale. Anyone building one vehicle gets markings exactly for it; anyone planning a column will appreciate that the whole theme keeps to one machine.
The BTR-80 is an eight-wheeled amphibious carrier with a floating hull and water propulsion, which came about as the next development stage of the older eight-wheeled types. Characteristic of it are the two-part side doors between the second and third axles, which make it possible to get out even on the move, a single powerplant instead of a pair of engines, and a small turret with machine gun armament. The naval infantry values it above all because it crosses a water obstacle with no preparation.
The hull of the BTR-80 is intricate, but the areas under the decals tend to be small and sloping, so it pays to apply them one at a time and seat them carefully into the facets of the armor. Give the base a coat of gloss varnish and once it has dried even the surface out with a matte varnish. Weather the wheels and the underside of the hull last, so that dust and mud do not get under the markings. The instructions for working with the decals are given on the packaging of the set.
This is a decal set. The model of the carrier, the paints and the varnishes are not included in the package.
