An injection-molded plastic kit of the Soviet fighter-bomber with variable-geometry wings in 1:48 scale from Smer. Depending on the markings you choose, the parts build either the Soviet Su-17 M4 or its export Su-22 M4 version. It is a straightforward kit of classic tooling; according to the manufacturer the box offers several marking options.
The Sukhoi Su-17 (NATO reporting name Fitter) was a Soviet fighter-bomber and the first Soviet production aircraft to use a variable-geometry wing, that is, outer wing panels with an adjustable sweep angle. The M4 version was the most advanced single-seat variant. Export machines carried the Su-22 designation and served with a number of friendly air forces. The type carried a wide range of external stores for attacks on ground targets.
Use liquid cement for plastic and allow for more careful cleanup and fitting of the parts. Finish and paint the cockpit before closing the fuselage, and mask the canopy. Set the movable outer wing panels so that they seat well. Apply primer before painting; good acrylic or enamel paints suit the Soviet and export schemes.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
