The photo-etched set from the Czech maker Hauler in 1:35 scale is prepared for the kit of the open, staff version of the car from the Bronco brand. It is an accessory for a model, not the model itself. On a convertible photo-etch has a markedly greater impact than on a closed sedan: the folded roof exposes the interior, and so the pedals, the handles, the instrument frames and the inner fittings of the doors are visible, which in plastic are molded only as suggestions.
Open versions of prewar passenger cars were commonly used for official and liaison journeys, because they allowed quick boarding and a good view. A body built on the same basis as the closed sedan differs from it in the windshield frame, the arrangement of the sides and the folding fabric roof - the parts of the two versions are therefore not interchangeable, and sets are made for them separately.
With an open car it pays to change the order of the work: paint the interior and glue it together completely before you seat the body, because afterwards you will not reach inside with a brush or with tweezers. Anneal the photo-etched parts before bending, and the brass will then hold its shape. Help the fittings on the edges to seat with a drop of super glue applied with the tip of a pin, and remove the surplus at once, while it is still wet. Paint the fabric roof, if you build it folded, with a matte paint with a hint of stitching and discreet dust - the contrast with the glossy body is exactly what gives a scene credibility.
The set completes a kit; it is not a model in its own right. The kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
