A slender 7.5 cm KwK 42 L/70 gun barrel in 1:35 replaces the plastic part on a model of the Panther Ausf. G.
Responsibility details are not available.
The long weapon of the Panther is conspicuous on a model and every seam or bend shows on it. A separately manufactured replacement has a seamless slender profile, a finished muzzle and a precisely shaped double-baffle muzzle brake. It is fitted into the gun mantlet in place of the original part, and the manufacturer prepared it for its own kit of the Panther Ausf. G.
The KwK 42 gun had a caliber of only 7.5 centimeters, but a length of 70 calibers and a heavy charge gave it a penetration that a number of weapons of larger caliber did not have at the time. The flat trajectory of the shell matched a high muzzle velocity, thanks to which a gunner could aim at long range without complicated corrections of elevation. The Ausf. G version was the last large-series form of the Panther: it received a simplified hull with reworked side armor and was built until the end of the war.
Besides tweezers and cyanoacrylate glue, a fine file for leveling the seating surface is handy. Try fitting the weapon dry first and check whether the turret turns freely once it is in place and whether the muzzle points parallel with the hull.
You are buying a replacement weapon, and the tank itself is not in the box.
