Movable metal winter tracks for the Panzer III and IV, Winterketten 1:35 (Friulmodel)

A set of cast white metal links as a replacement for the plastic tracks of an ordinary kit. It is not a vehicle model but a detail accessory for the German medium tanks Panzer III and Panzer IV with the wider Winterketten winter track. The links are joined with wire pins, the finished track is fully movable, sags faithfully and gives the model a realistic weight as well as look. The package contains wire for the pins and a small reserve of links.

The real subject

The Winterketten were wider tracks introduced for better mobility in winter and in soft ground on the Eastern Front. Lower ground pressure helped the Panzer III and IV to cope with snow and mud. The wider winter tracks are a striking recognition feature of machines from the Eastern Front.

Assembly and use
