All-steel return rollers for the Panzer IV with a welded base, the first pattern in 1:35 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
Return rollers for a model of the Panzer IV in 1:35, on which the base is welded according to the name, that is made differently from the cast variants of the same line. The designation pattern 1 identifies the first form of this solution. It is a part for completing a build, not a whole machine.
A cast base is created in one piece in a mold, while a welded one is put together from sheet-metal parts joined by a weld. The difference is clear at first glance: a weldment has flatter faces, sharper edges and visible weld beads, while a casting has softer transitions. German production moved between the two processes according to what could be made faster at the time, so both forms appear side by side. For a model that means the choice between the two sets is not merely cosmetic.
First separate the parts carefully and level the cut faces with a file, so that they seat flat. Remove fingerprints and grease with lukewarm soapy water. A rougher surface helps cyanoacrylate glue. Apply it in a small amount, so that it does not run into the weld detail. A thin coat of primer preserves the texture, which a wash will then sit on nicely.
