About product

Panzerbefehlswagen 35(t) 1:35 - Special Armour

An injection-molded plastic kit of the German command tank Panzerbefehlswagen 35(t) in 1:35 scale from Special Armour (a range of the Czech maker Special Hobby). According to the manufacturer the model comes on several sprues of injection-molded plastic and is supplemented with photo-etched parts, resin accessories and decals for several marking options.

The real subject

The subject is the command version of a tank that was created in Czechoslovakia as the Skoda LT vz. 35. After the occupation of the Czech lands it was taken over by the Wehrmacht under the designation Pz.Kpfw. 35(t). The Germans converted some of these tanks into command vehicles (Panzerbefehlswagen) with improved radio equipment and an additional antenna, so that they could direct the fighting of armored units. The 35(t) tanks fought alongside the standard versions in France in 1940 and in the attack on the Soviet Union in 1941. This is therefore a machine with Czech roots used in German service.

Building and painting tips

First finish the running gear, that is the road wheels, leaf springs and tracks, together with the visible interior parts, and only then close up the hull. Wash the resin parts free of mold release agent and cut the casting blocks away carefully; bend the photo-etched parts over a metal rule and glue the resin with cyanoacrylate. Prime the model before painting. Early-war German vehicles usually wore panzergrau; build up the weathering with a wash in the engraved lines, a dry brush on the edges and pigments for mud and dust in the running gear. Do not forget the additional antenna of the command version.

Who the model is for

  • Collectors of vehicles with Czechoslovak roots (the LT vz. 35 and Pz.35(t) family)
  • Fans of early-war German armor (France 1940, the Eastern Front 1941)
  • Modelers who can handle photo-etched and resin parts
  • Anyone interested in command tank variants with extended radio equipment

The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.

FAQ

The tank was created in Czechoslovakia as the Skoda LT vz. 35. After the occupation of the Czech lands the Wehrmacht took it over as the Pz.35(t) and converted some of them into Panzerbefehlswagen command vehicles.

According to the manufacturer the box also holds photo-etched parts, resin accessories and decals for several marking options. It is therefore a mixed-media kit.

Rather not. The combination of plastic, photo-etch and resin calls for experience with cyanoacrylate and for fine work, so it is aimed at more advanced modelers.
