When the Soviet Union broke up in 1991, the successor states inherited the equipment simply according to where it happened to be standing. The eight-wheeled BTR-70 and BTR-80 carriers and the BRDM-2 reconnaissance vehicles thus ended up in the armament of fifteen armies at once. A wave of re-marking followed: new state symbols, different systems of registration numbers and, with some armies, a change of base shade as well. Vehicles identical in type therefore look different in every country, and that is exactly what makes this theme a rewarding modeling task: the same kit can be built in several entirely different forms.
Wheeled carriers have rounded sides to the hull and a decal likes to slide down them before it manages to dry. Use less water than you are used to, then, and hold the design with a dry brush until it takes hold. Let markings on doors and hatches reach across a seam and once they have dried run the tip of a scalpel along it, so that it stays legible. With large numbers on the sides, check that they run parallel with the line of the wheels, not with the upper edge of the hull.
The decals are supplied on their own. A model and paints are not included in the package.
