On a diorama an interior is never built whole; exactly the part the viewer will see gets built. That makes it all the more important for the visible area to look convincing. Wallpaper with a printed pattern gives a wall a character that is only painted with a brush with great difficulty, and above all it keeps the fine drawing in an exact reduction. It suits an office, the back rooms of a public building, a parlor and a room taken over by a military unit on a diorama.
Prepare the ground under the wallpaper flat and with no steps - every unevenness shows more on a smooth printed area than on a painted wall. Put the joins between the individual pieces into the corner of the room, where the eye does not look for them. If you are building a damaged interior, count on the torn-away part having to have an irregular edge and a different texture visible under it. At the end unify the scene: a light cast of dust over the whole interior ties the wall, the floor and the furniture into one whole that comes across as having always belonged together.
