1:35 Printed Accessories: Wallpaper Nr.9

Wallpaper Nr.9 - wallpaper for a diorama interior in 1:35 scale

The ninth numbered version of wallpapers from the range of printed RT-Diorama accessories in 1:35 scale. It is a flat subject for the vertical areas of an interior, not a kit of a building. The range is numerous and the numbers differ in pattern, so a modeler chooses by the period and the character of the scene he is building.

Wallpaper in a damaged interior

In scenes with an exposed building wallpaper is a rewarding element. A revealed wall with a pattern shows at once that the room was lived in, and the contrast between what is left of the decoration and the wreckage is stronger than any added detail. Marks of furniture, lighter rectangles where pictures hung and an interruption of the pattern at the place of the damage are exactly the small things that give a diorama its story and set it apart from a mere set piece.

Tips for a believable ruin

• Let the pattern end irregularly; a sharp horizontal edge comes across as artificial.
• Lighter areas where pictures and furniture have been taken away liven a scene up straight away.
• Lay the dust and the fall from the ceiling down more thickly toward the place of the damage.
• Combine wallpaper on the upper part of the wall with wall tiles or a baseboard below.
• Match the shades of the wall with the floor and the rubble, so that the scene holds as a whole.

Who the accessory is for

The set will serve builders of city and combat dioramas in 1:35 scale with exposed interiors and modelers who make quiet domestic scenes and want the walls settled in the matching scale.
