An accessory for building dioramas and display-case scenes in 1:35 scale. It represents a board fence whose boards are cut to a point at the top. It is one of those elements that settle a scene into its setting fastest: it is immediately clear where the yard ends and the road begins, and the viewer has something by which to judge the size of a vehicle and of the figures.
A fence of this type appears at rural homesteads, around gardens, yards and storehouses, as well as along field tracks. It finds a use in military scenes as well as in purely civilian ones. Placed at the side of a base it also closes a scene off visually and hides the point where the terrain passes into a straight edge.
Let the fence carry the marks of life. A fence built as though by a ruler looks untrue: tilt the individual sections, leave one or two boards out or let them hang, and sink the lower edges into the terrain so that the fence does not sit on the surface as though laid against it. Work the painting from a dark base toward the light. Once the base color is dry, pull a dark glaze over the surface so that it runs into the joints between the boards, and only then go over the edges with a dry brush in light gray. Wood grays in the rain, so leave rich brown shades only where the rain does not reach. At the nails and the fittings a small rust stain running down the board suits well.
The package contains the diorama accessory according to the name of the item. The base, the terrain, the figures, the paints and the glue are not included, unless stated otherwise.
