An injection-molded plastic kit of the two German light tanks Pz.Kpfw.I Ausf.A and Pz.Kpfw.I Ausf.B in 1:35 scale from Takom. It is a 2 in 1 package — in the box there are two complete models, that is both early versions of the Panzer I side by side. According to the manufacturer the set contains photo-etched parts, link-and-length tracks (links and longer runs) and decals for several marking options.
The Pz.Kpfw.I was a German light tank with which the first tank units of the Wehrmacht were built up and trained in the 1930s. It was armed only with two machine guns and served rather as a training and reconnaissance machine, yet it took part in the fighting in Spain, in Poland and at the beginning of further campaigns. The Ausf.A was shorter and had four road wheels, while the Ausf.B received a more powerful water-cooled Maybach engine, a lengthened engine compartment and five road wheels. The kit therefore makes it possible to build both key early versions and to compare their differences.
On each tank, start with the running gear and the link-and-length tracks, which should be fitted carefully link by link, and only then close the hull. Bend the photo-etched parts over a metal ruler. Spray a primer before painting. Early German vehicles usually carried the gray Panzergrau; on Spanish and prewar machines other schemes appeared as well. Create the weathering with washes in the engraved lines, a dry brush on the edges and pigments for mud and dust in the running gear. Two models in one box are a good opportunity to try different styles of weathering.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
