Star Decals in 1:35 scale for the PzKpfw I Ausf B tank from the Polish campaign of 1939. A marking set for a finished model, not a kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
A decal set from Star Decals narrowed down to a single type and a single campaign. The name gives the PzKpfw I Ausf B version and the operation run under the codename Fall Weiss, that is the invasion of Poland in September 1939. The set holds markings for a model in 1:35 scale and serves as an accessory, not as a kit.
The Ausf B version came about because the original Ausf A was underpowered. It was given a stronger liquid-cooled Maybach engine, because of which the hull was lengthened, and a fifth road wheel and a further return roller were added to the running gear. The armament stayed machine guns, so this machine too was meant in 1939 for reconnaissance and escort rather than for fighting tanks. In Poland it was nonetheless one of the most numerous types and it bore the main weight of the first weeks of the campaign.
The markings used in Poland were exceptionally high in contrast and that benefits a model: on a dark base they look very bold. That is exactly why they forgive the least in placement. Work one design at a time, check the symmetry of both sides and do not rush the sliding while the decal is wet. Before laying them down it pays to degrease the surface, because traces of sanding dust are easy to overlook on a small model and then show up under the carrier film as an unevenness.
