Quad is the established designation of the artillery tractor with a closed box body which carried the crew and the ammunition to a towed gun during the Second World War. It was built on a military chassis with all-wheel drive, and the name of this set points to the version from the Ford company. On a wheeled vehicle the wheels are visible from every side and the tread pattern of the tire carries a large part of the resulting impression, because it is the only regular pattern on an otherwise smooth silhouette.
