Figures of an Australian infantry regiment in 1:35 scale: the third part of the series, the name gives two figures and the period of the war in Vietnam.
Responsibility details are not available.
The third set of the Australian infantry series. The name gives the full name of the regiment, the period of the war in Vietnam and two figures, so there can be no doubt about the placing of the scene. The set can be built on its own or joined to the earlier parts to form a more numerous group.
Australian infantry units operated in the region from the middle of the nineteen sixties and brought with them their own habits from the tropical environment in which they had trained earlier. It showed on the equipment and on the way they moved through terrain: less noisy gear, weight on quiet advance and a cloth hat instead of a helmet, which became their most conspicuous recognizable mark.
A tropical uniform keeps rather to an olive or khaki tone without pronounced yellow. Proceed with an undercoat, a brightening of the upper areas and a thin wash in the folds; excessive contrast on a small figure looks artificial. The brim of the hat gives rise to a shadow over the upper part of the face: suggest it with a fine darkening, not with a sharp line. Apply dust sparingly and only to the parts that really touch the terrain. Leave the weapons and the metal accessories in darker tones, so that they are not lost from the uniform even when viewed from a distance.
