The first volume of the figure series from the brand Bravo 6 devoted to the US Marine Corps, cast in resin in 1:35 scale. It is not a kit of equipment but a figure set intended for a diorama or for completing a finished model of a vehicle. Resin castings are worked differently from injection-molded plastic, so the set is suitable rather for experienced modelers.
The subject is Marines advancing round the corner of a building, that is a typical situation of combat in built-up terrain. The stances of the figures are subordinate to that - a crouched carriage of the body, the weapon ready at the shoulder, the gaze forward. The uniform and the kit match the period of the war in Vietnam: a field blouse, a load-bearing system with straps and pouches, a helmet with a cloth cover. The set is conceived so that it can be completed with further volumes of the same series and a longer advancing group put together from them.
First wash the castings in lukewarm water with detergent and remove the release agent from the mold that way. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw or a cutting disc. Glue with cyanoacrylate super glue; with the thin joints of the arms, reinforcement with a short wire pin helps. Sand resin wet and with respiratory protection. After a primer the figures take acrylics well; oil paints are suitable for soft transitions on the skin and for shadows in the folds of the uniform. If you are building the figures into a scene with a building, try the spacing out dry before you glue them on for good.
