A casting of one standing soldier in resin, meant to be built and painted. It is not a toy and not a finished figure: the parts are removed from the casting blocks, cleaned up and only then glued. The 1:35 size matches the commonest scale for military vehicles, so the figure holds its own beside armor and guns.
The name refers to the heavy assault vests that Russian special purpose units put on when entering buildings and in trench fighting. Compared with an ordinary ballistic vest, a high collar, shoulder protectors, a groin protector and sometimes thigh protection are added; the weight goes up so much that nobody can move far on foot in gear like this, but it does protect against fragments at very close range. That very contradiction between protection and mobility is what makes figures like this a rewarding subject: the silhouette is angular, bulky and instantly readable in a diorama.
After washing and drying, lay on a thin primer, which evens the surface out and reveals any bubbles. The vest and the patches take well to working from a dark shade up to a lighter drybrush, which pulls out the edges of the recesses and the straps. Paint the exposed parts of the face last, in several thinned coats.
The figure comes as an unworked casting with no finish applied.
