A set of photo-etched parts made of thin sheet metal for refining the detail of a plastic model of the Russian T-90A main battle tank in 1:35 scale. It is an aftermarket accessory, not a model of the vehicle. The metal parts replace plastic items wherever injection-molded plastic is unconvincing for its thickness, typically the grilles above the engine compartment, the covers, the loops, the clamps, the equipment brackets and other thin-walled details of the hull and the turret. The exact contents of the package follow the manufacturer's instructions.
The T-90A is a Russian main battle tank that follows on from the T-72 design line. Compared with the older machines it has a welded turret instead of a cast one, a 125 mm smoothbore gun with an autoloader and an upgraded fire control system with a thermal imager. Its protection is rounded out by explosive reactive armor and a set of countermeasures for jamming the guidance systems of anti-tank missiles. Compact dimensions and a low silhouette are typical of the Eastern school of tank design.
Cut the parts out with a sharp scalpel on a hard surface, and never break them out. Make the folds along the marked score lines, best in a photo-etch bender, and rather bend a part a second time than break the metal. Use thin cyanoacrylate for gluing, which wicks into the joint by capillary action. On large parts a slow-setting epoxy gives time for exact positioning. Degrease the metal before painting and lay down a primer. Once painted, the sharp edges of photo-etched parts come out very nicely under a wash and drybrushing.
