The amphibious cars of the designer Hanns Trippel are among the most interesting dead ends of German automotive development in the 1930s and 1940s. The SG 6 range had a boat-shaped hull, all-wheel drive and a propeller for movement in water; it was made in small batches and reached units only in limited numbers. In the shadow of the far more widespread Volkswagen Type 166, the Trippel therefore remained a rarity, and all the more rewarding a subject for a modeler who wants something in the display case that is not seen elsewhere. The designation SG 6/38 refers to the form from the end of the 1930s.
