An injection-molded plastic kit of the German heavy armored car Sd.Kfz.231 (8-Rad) in its early form, in 1:35 scale from the AFV Club brand. The model offers a detailed frame with suspension, a partial engine, an interior for the hull and the turret and hatches that can be opened. The package contains rubber tires, small photo-etched parts and a decal sheet. With this family of eight-wheeled cars, AFV Club ranks among the respected manufacturers with a high level of detail.
The Sd.Kfz.231 (8-Rad) was a German heavy reconnaissance armored car with all eight wheels driven and steered. It stood out for its good mobility and had a driving position at each end of the hull, so that it could reverse as fast as it drove forward - an advantage for a quick escape on reconnaissance. The main armament consisted of a 20 mm KwK 30 gun and a coaxial machine gun of 7.92 mm caliber in a traversing turret. The early form corresponds to vehicles from the beginning of the Second World War in the typical German gray.
Assemble the chassis with its suspension and all the wheels, and paint the interior of the hull and the turret before you close the upper parts up. Glue the parts with liquid cement for plastic and the photo-etched parts with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Apply a primer and spray German gray (Panzergrau) with an airbrush; the patina is provided by a wash in the recesses, edge highlighting and dust pigments on the tires and the chassis.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
