Eduard 1:35 Sd. Kfz.247 Ausf. B is a photo-etched detail set for a plastic model of this armored car. It replaces thick plastic parts with thin metal that keeps the scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
A fret of photo-etched metal parts from the Czech maker Eduard, meant for finishing a plastic model of the armored car Sd. Kfz.247 Ausf. B in 1:35 scale. It is neither a kit of the vehicle nor a finished model, but an accessory for a model that the modeler obtains separately.
Photo-etched parts solve one particular problem of injection-molded plastic: parts that are in reality made of thin sheet have to be incomparably thicker on a model for reasons of the mold. Etched metal has a real thickness of hundredths of a millimeter, so edges, grab handles and small hardware stop looking pressed on. On a vehicle built open the difference is visible at first glance, because all such details lie on the surface of the hull.
Count on extra work: the parts are nipped off with a sharp scalpel on a hard surface, bent in a photo-etch bending tool or between two razor blades and bonded with cyanoacrylate glue, because cement for plastic will not hold on metal. Apply it with a pin in minute drops, otherwise the glue will run across a visible surface. Degrease the metal parts that will stay in bare sheet and spray them with a base color before painting, otherwise the finish will chip when handled.
The set is an accessory for building a plastic model, not a standalone model. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
