An injection-molded plastic kit of the German half-track armored vehicle Sd.Kfz.251/9 Ausf.D in the early production form, in 1:35 scale from the manufacturer AFV Club. The model captures the version armed with the short 7.5 cm KwK 37 gun with a low muzzle velocity, nicknamed Stummel (stump). The kit is injection-molded plastic with the option of an open fighting compartment; check the exact contents of the package in the manufacturer's instructions.
The Sd.Kfz.251 was the standard German half-track armored personnel carrier of the Second World War, which carried armored grenadiers into battle. The 251/9 variant received the short 7.5 cm KwK 37 gun in the front part of the hull, on a gun mount similar to the one from the StuG III assault gun, thanks to which it could support infantry with fire directly. The Ausf.D configuration had a simplified welded hull suitable for series production. The nickname Stummel referred to the short barrel.
Cut the parts off the sprues and glue them with a thin cement for plastic. First finish and paint the running gear and the inside of the open fighting compartment, and only then complete the hull. After spraying the primer and the camouflage with an airbrush, bring the panel lines and the rivets out with a wash and apply mud and dust with pigments to the running gear and the fenders. The open compartment comes out nicely with an accentuated interior and a fine dry brush.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
