An injection-molded plastic kit of the German Sd.Kfz.251/1 Ausf.D half-track armored personnel carrier in 1:35 scale from Tamiya. The model captures the late, production-simplified Ausf.D version with the flat side armor of the hull. The box also holds crew figures. Check the box for the exact contents and the decals.
The Sd.Kfz.251 was the standard German half-track infantry carrier of the Second World War. The 251/1 version served to carry an infantry squad, to tow lighter weapons and trailers and to support armored units directly. The simplified Ausf.D version was built from 1943 with a more angular, easier to manufacture hull and became the most widespread variant. The open fighting compartment allowed the crew to dismount quickly.
Glue the parts with liquid cement for plastic, and paint and pick out the open fighting compartment and the interior before you close the hull up. The rear drop doors can be built open or closed according to the instructions. Lay down a primer and the paint with an airbrush; on late-war vehicles a combination of dark yellow with green and brown camouflage suits well. Bring out the engraved lines with a wash and finish the mud and dust effects with pigments on the running gear.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
