The set contains bare feet in a bent position for a figure in 1:48 scale. It is not a model and not a whole figure but parts for a conversion. It differs from the basic set of bare feet precisely in the bent position, which is intended for a seated, kneeling or crouching figure — and poses of exactly that kind cannot be obtained from an ordinary standing plastic figure in any other way than by exchanging parts. The same subject comes out in further scales too.
A seated figure is important in a scene: it breaks up the monotony of a group of standing figures and follows on naturally from the features of the terrain — a stone, a crate, a step, the edge of a vehicle. A bent bare foot suits a rest by water, a scene with changing footwear, a field dressing station and civilian genre scenes. In 1:48 scale these are very small parts, so work with tweezers and good lighting.
First separate the part from the casting system with a sharp blade or a fine saw as close to the part as possible and level the trace of the sprue gate with a finer-grit sandpaper. If the set is cast in resin, wash it in lukewarm water with a detergent before painting to rid it of residues of the release agent, and choose the glue according to the material: on resin a cyanoacrylate super glue, on plastic parts a thin glue for plastic. Sand resin wet and with protection for your airways.
When fitting, first seat the figure on its target base and only then fine-tune the angle at the knee — a seated figure that does not touch its base gives the conversion away at first glance. Even the joints out with a two-part modeling compound and suggest a fold of the trouser leg in it at the bend of the knee. Paint skin as a glaze from a medium flesh color, put a warmer tone on the instep and the toes and a cooler shadow into the arch and under the knee. Keep the foot darker and, according to the scene, add dust or mud.
This is an accessory for a figure, not a model on its own. The set is supplied unpainted; paints, glue and the figure are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
