The set holds plastic figures in 1:35 scale from the Ukrainian maker Master Box, which specializes in figure sets with a narrative subject: instead of stiff poses it offers a situation that has action of its own. Here the subject is a shared cigarette, that is a short break. The number of figures and the setting the scene belongs to are shown by the illustration on the box.
The 1:35 scale is the standard for military and diorama subjects, so the figures combine with vehicles, buildings and accessories of the same size. A scene with figures in a quiet situation suits bringing a static model to life: a human element gives a vehicle scale and the viewer a point to look at. It can also be built on its own on a small base as a vignette for a display case.
The figures tend to be divided into torso, head, arms and kit. Clean up the parting lines on the arms and legs before you glue the parts together, as they are hard to reach later. Fill the gaps with putty so that they do not interrupt the folds of the cloth. After the primer, painting goes from the large areas to the detail: the base in acrylic, the shading with oil paints or glazes, the face and hands at the end. A matte varnish will unify the surface; leave a satin one only on the skin and the metal parts of the kit.
The figures are supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
