A single resin figure in 1:35 from the figure line of the maker PANZER ART. The No. 1 marking tells the pose apart within the series, and the manufacturer also offers a further sequence number and a multi-figure set under the same subject. The figure is an add-on for a diorama or for a vehicle model; it is not a kit.
A resin casting captures the fine rendering of the folds, the straps and the equipment markedly more legibly than injection-molded plastic. The figure tends to be split into a torso and a head, or into arms as well, so that the mold manages without undercuts; the parting lines run where a collar or equipment will hide them once glued. The material is hard and breaks if dropped, so handle a finished figure carefully.
Wash the casting in lukewarm water with dish soap and let it dry out thoroughly, so that the mold release agent is removed. Cut the casting block off with a modeling saw and finish the surface with a file and sandpaper, always with your airways protected. Glue the joints with cyanoacrylate glue, and fill and sand micro-gaps at the head and the arms. Apply a primer before painting; a light gray one proves itself on figures. Lay the base tone of the clothing on with an airbrush or a brush across the whole surface, then add lightening on the crests of the folds and a darker wash into the recesses; the contrast has to be stronger than looks logical, because in 1:35 the shadows get lost optically. Set the leather and webbing parts apart by a difference in gloss rather than in shade. Finish the face and the hands with oil paints, for a soft blend. At the end knock the whole surface back with a matte clear coat and bring the gloss back at points on the straps and the metal fittings.
The figure is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
