Responsibility details are not available.
These Star Decals in 1:35 scale carry the markings of the Soviet BMP-2D infantry fighting vehicle from the Afghan deployment. The set brings markings for a finished, painted model, not parts or a kit.
The BMP-2 is a tracked infantry fighting vehicle with a rotating turret mounting an automatic 30 mm cannon. The form designated BMP-2D came about directly for deployment in Afghanistan: it received add-on armor plates on the sides of the hull and reinforcement under the driver's station. Its resistance to mines and to fire from the side rose as a result, but at the same time the weight grew and some of the firing ports for the dismounts became unusable. Soviet units operated in Afghanistan between 1979 and 1989, and equipment there moved mainly along the road routes, the passes and the valleys.
The add-on plates of the BMP-2D take up precisely those side areas of the hull the markings usually go onto, so think the layout through before you glue the plates on. Seat the turret numbers onto a gloss base and matte them down once they have dried. Apply the dry dust that belongs to this theater only right at the end, otherwise the pigment will settle under the film and the markings will lose their sharpness.
