An injection-molded plastic kit of the Soviet heavy tank JS-2, also transcribed as IS-2, in 1:35 scale from Trumpeter. The set contains a metal barrel, a copper towing cable and photo-etched parts, and offers a well-worked running gear and a detailed hull and turret. It is a richly equipped model of one of the best-known Soviet heavy tanks.
The JS-2, named after Joseph Stalin, was a Soviet heavy tank of the Second World War. It combined heavy armor with a powerful 122 mm gun, whose heavy shell could destroy even heavy enemy tanks and demolish fortifications. The tank proved itself in the closing offensives of 1944 and 1945, above all in city fighting and in breaking through defenses. Its low rate of fire, caused by two-part ammunition, was offset by the crushing effect of a hit.
First assemble and paint the running gear before you close it in with the upper hull and the fenders. Deburr the metal barrel and align it on the axis before gluing. Glue the parts with liquid cement for plastic and attach the photo-etched parts with cyanoacrylate glue. Apply a primer and a uniform Soviet green with an airbrush; pick out the panel joints and the cast texture of the turret with a wash and apply pigments to the running gear for mud effects.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
