The real subject

Soviet partisans operated behind the German lines in occupied territory, most of all in wooded and marshy regions. Their ranks were made up of soldiers cut off from their units, local inhabitants and people on the run, so there can be no question of a uniform appearance. In period photographs a military uniform meets a civilian coat, a fur cap meets a helmet and a Soviet weapon meets a captured one. It is precisely this variety that makes partisans a rewarding subject, because every figure can look different.

What the set contains

Figures in 1:35 scale, that is in the usual scale of military vehicle models. The figures can be set beside a vehicle, into a forest scene or into a camp being built. The number of figures, their poses and any accessories are given in the manufacturer's instructions and on the box.

Building and painting tips

Cut excess material and production traces off with a sharp blade a little away from the part and sand the remainder down, which with figures applies above all to the seams along the arms and the legs. Choose the glue according to the material of the parts, and the particular procedure is given in the manufacturer's instructions. Before painting, wash and degrease the figures and apply a primer. Paint from the bottom up, that is the clothing first and the face and hands last. Bring the skin to life with a thin dark wash into the folds and with drybrushing over the raised places. With partisans in particular it pays to dress every piece differently.
