85 mm rounds for the Soviet D-5 and ZiS-S-53 tank guns in 1:35 scale, in the late form. An accessory for an open vehicle interior and for a diorama.
Responsibility details are not available.
The 85 mm gun was how the Soviet armored force answered the thickening armor of German machines in the second half of the war. The D-5 gun and after it the ZiS-S-53 went into the turret of the T-34-85 medium tank, and related forms of the same gun were carried by self-propelled and early heavy vehicles as well. It fired a single-piece round, in which the projectile is fixed to the case: the loader hands it along in one movement and the rate of fire rises noticeably. The case is at the same time long and takes up its share of a cramped fighting compartment, so the ammunition belongs among the conspicuous items of equipment rather than among the small details.
The set brings 85 mm rounds in the late form; the range also includes the variant designated Early. It comes into its own anywhere the ammunition is to be seen, that is in an open turret, in boxes on the bed of a supply vehicle and loose in a scene beside a crew replenishing a stock.
Cut the surplus material away with a sharp blade a little way from the part and sand the remainder off carefully, so that the shape of the base of the case is kept. Wash and degrease the parts before painting and choose the glue according to the material; super glue will serve universally. The case and the projectile differ from one another in material, not only in shade, so metallic shine on the case against a flat tip of the projectile will lift the result. A weak dark wash then settles the rounds into one another and brings out the rim of the base.
For builders of Soviet vehicles in 1:35 scale who want the vehicle open and the scene around it inhabited. Paints and glue are not included in the box, unless stated otherwise.
