A plastic kit of the Swedish Strv.122 main battle tank in 1:35 scale from Hobby Boss. The Strv.122 is the Swedish version of the German Leopard 2A5 with its own modifications: reinforced armor and domestic command and control equipment. The kit contains photo-etched parts and a one-piece rubber band track, and both the shorter L44 barrel and the longer L55 are listed as included. The finished model measures roughly 30 cm in length.
At the turn of 1997 and 1998 the Swedish Army took over the first of 120 new tanks based on the Leopard 2A5 under the domestic designation Strv.122. Compared with the German original it has heavier roof and turret armor and a modernized command system. The Strv.122 is among the best protected variants of the Leopard 2 family.
It is advisable to build in subassemblies and to finish the running gear first; bond the photo-etched screens with cyanoacrylate glue. The model comes out well in the Swedish three-color splinter camouflage with a wash in the recesses and dust pigments on the running gear. The rubber track can be painted separately before it is fitted.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
