Injection-molded plastic model of the Soviet main battle tank T-62A in 1:35 scale from Tamiya. The model faithfully captures the characteristic low, rounded shape of the cast turret and the compact hull. The package includes a detailed searchlight and a 12.7 mm machine gun, a metal mesh for an accurate engine deck grille, and one figure of a Soviet tank crewman. Opening turret hatches allow a view inside.
The T-62 was a Soviet main battle tank that followed on from the proven T-54/T-55 series and introduced a major innovation — a smoothbore 115 mm gun, one of the first tank guns of this type in the world, firing both sub-caliber armor-piercing and high-explosive fragmentation rounds. In hull shape and mechanicals the T-62 stayed close to its predecessors, though the longer hull and new turret required adjustments. It was first shown publicly in the mid-1960s and became one of the most numerous tanks of its era.
Glue the parts with plastic modeling cement; the cast turret surface really comes to life after a primer coat and thin airbrushed layers. Paint the running gear and lower hull before final assembly. Bring the typical Soviet green finish to life with subtle shade variation, washes, and dust and mud pigments; use the included tank crewman figure to add life to the whole scene.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
