The subject is the cargo version of the second generation utility vehicle in the form it wore at the start of the 1970s. A body with no side windows makes the model an ideal carrier for a company sign, which turns it into a rewarding eye-catcher in a diorama.
The panel version was the workhorse of the whole range throughout its production. Tradesmen, bakers, repair firms and postal services put it to work daily, because it offered a large load volume on a small footprint. Over the years the vehicle went through changes in detail: the form of the headlights, the bumpers and the ventilation grilles changed, so the version from the start of the 1970s can be told from the earliest examples at first glance.
A company sign on a smooth side will only come out on a perfectly level surface, so polish the area before the decals and seal it with a gloss coat. An honest van deserves the marks of service: light dust on the lower areas, wear around the handles and matte patches where hands touched the vehicle every day. Darken the wheel arches and the underside of the chassis before you close the whole vehicle up.
The kit comes unassembled and without a finish; paints and glue have to be obtained separately.
