A resin detail set in 1:35 scale from the firm PANZER ART representing the T3 Rhinoceros device — a toothed front cutter for breaking through hedgerows (a hedgerow cutter). It is not a model of the vehicle but a detail accessory that is mounted on the nose of an M4 Sherman tank or of an M10 tank destroyer.
Cutters of the Rhinoceros type were made as a field improvisation during the fighting in the Normandy hedgerow country (the bocage) in the summer of 1944. Sharp teeth welded onto the nose let a vehicle break through a dense bank of earth and roots instead of riding up over it, where it would have exposed its thinly armored belly.
Wash the resin parts free of the mold release agent, cut off the casting blocks and clean them up (with respiratory protection). They are bonded with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Spray a primer on before painting; the welds and the bare metal of the cutting edge stand out once pigments and a fine wash have been applied.
This is an accessory, not a complete model. A corresponding base kit of the M4 tank or the M10 tank destroyer is needed to use it.
