About product

Holographic film for the optics of the Terminator 2 in 1:35 scale (SX-Art)

A set of holographic film with elements for the observation, sighting and vision port instruments of the tank support fighting vehicle Terminator 2 in 1:35 scale. The elements replace the flat plastic imitation of glass that the kit has molded into the hull and the turret. The holographic layer changes shade with the angle of view, so once the elements are on, the optics look like real glass with a glint and not like a surface painted blue or green. It is not a mask set but ready-made clear elements that stay on the model permanently.

The real subject

The Terminator 2 is the modernized form of the Russian tank support fighting vehicle, which came about on a tank chassis and carries combined armament made up of autocannons, a machine gun and anti-tank guided missiles. The vehicle is conceived for escorting tanks and for fighting infantry and anti-tank weapons in built-up and broken terrain alike. Tied to that is the quantity of optics it carries, because the crew and the weapon operators need to cover the view in every direction. On a model in 1:35 scale there really are a great many observation and sighting instruments.

Building and painting tips

Put the film on only once the painting, the varnish, the decals and the weathering are finished. Degrease the surface the element is to go on beforehand and let it dry. Take the elements out with tweezers with smooth jaws, because fingerprints show on a holographic surface. They are glued with a colorless glue for clear parts that does not cloud the surface as it dries. Avoid cyanoacrylate glue, because the fumes will fog the clear surface. The elements must not be painted or varnished over, because any layer on top cancels the effect. If you flatten the model, put the film on only once the matte varnish has dried, so that it stays glossy.

Who the set is for

  • Builders of modern armored vehicles in 1:35 scale
  • Owners of the kit of the Terminator 2 vehicle
  • Modelers who are finishing a model for a display case or a competition
  • Those who want a marked improvement in appearance without photo-etched parts and resin

The film is supplied as an accessory for a model. The kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.

FAQ

The elements are set onto the surface left by the plastic imitation of glass, that is where the optics belong. The plastic part of the hull or the turret is not cut out.

No. Matte varnish and any paint alike cancel the effect. Put the film on only once the last varnish has dried.

A colorless glue for clear parts. Cyanoacrylate glue will fog the surface and the film will lose its gloss.

It is not. A mask is removed after spraying; these elements stay on the model permanently.
