This set from Eureka XXL, a specialist in scale tow cables, is intended for the Soviet tracked carrier MT-LB in 1:35 scale. It is not a model in its own right but an accessory: flexible braided wire with cast eyes replaces the stiff plastic or vinyl cables from a kit and gives a model the natural cable sag that a real steel cable has.
The MT-LB is a Soviet light tracked armored personnel carrier and artillery tractor introduced in the 1960s. Thanks to its undemanding running gear and roomy body it served to carry infantry and to tow guns, and as the basis of a whole range of special versions, and many armies use it to this day. Tow cables are part of its ordinary external equipment, because the vehicle often recovered other equipment in the field, so the cables tend to be stowed on the body in a visible place.
You can easily shape the wire into a natural sag or a lashing according to photographs of real vehicles; glue the eyes on with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Paint in dark metallic shades, then apply a brown wash and pigments of rust and dust, because a cable on the body of a combat vehicle rarely looks new. A light polishing of the edges with graphite works well too.
The accessory is supplied unpainted. The kit of the MT-LB vehicle is not included in the package.
