An injection-molded plastic kit of the Soviet Sukhoi Su-27UB Flanker-C heavy fighter in 1:48 scale from Hobby Boss. It is the two-seat combat trainer version with a tandem cockpit. The model offers engraved panel structure, a broken-down cockpit and landing gear bays, underwing missile armament and decals. The large airframe of the Flanker shows off even in 1:48 scale.
The Su-27 was a Soviet twin-engine Mach 2 class heavy fighter from the Sukhoi design bureau, intended to win air superiority. It excelled in long range, agility and heavy armament. The UB version was the two-seat training counterpart with a second seat behind the pilot; although it served mainly for training, it remained fully combat-capable. Thanks to its long range and massive airframe the Su-27 was among the most striking fighters of its day, and the Flanker became the basis of a whole family of later derived types, from fighter-bombers to carrier machines.
Separate the parts with a sharp knife and glue them with thin liquid cement for plastic. Apply a primer before painting and spray the camouflage with an airbrush in thin coats. Mask the glazing of the tandem cockpit and bring out the panel lines with a fine wash. Apply the characteristic shades of the blue-gray camouflage in soft transitions.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
