An add-on set of photo-etched brass parts from Voyager Model, cut for the Revell 03018 plastic kit. It is not a kit and not a finished model. The set is there to replace selected parts on a plastic kit you have already obtained with more accurate metal ones and to add features that cannot be made in injection-molded plastic.
The Transportpanzer 1 Fuchs is a German wheeled armored personnel carrier with 6x6 all-wheel drive. It is amphibious and moves through water by means of propellers at the rear. It served in many specialized versions, from carrying a squad through engineer and signals variants to vehicles for chemical reconnaissance. The outside of the vehicle carries a number of thin features, grilles, covers, grab handles and equipment holders, which are an ideal target for photo-etched parts.
The step most often underrated is preparing the surface. Photo-etched brass comes from the factory covered with a thin film on which neither paint nor glue holds properly. So wash the parts before building in warm water with a little dish soap, rinse them and let them dry, and from then on touch them with tweezers rather than your fingers. Then spray the finished metal parts with a thin coat of primer, ideally the same one you use on the plastic. The uniform substrate that results guarantees that metal and plastic will not differ in shade or sheen once painted, which is the most common failing on mixed-media models.
The set is an accessory for a plastic kit and does not make up a model on its own. The kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
