The Japanese Type 3 heavy machine gun in 1:35 scale is a modeling accessory from Special Hobby for dioramas and figure scenes, not a kit of a vehicle.

This item is an accessory for modelers. It brings a reduction of the Japanese Type 3 heavy machine gun in 1:35 scale, that is at a size where the ribbing of the barrel and the shape of the tripod mount are already apparent. The use is clear: a firing position in a diorama, an accessory to a figure scene, or equipment that gives an otherwise empty part of a base a point. Special Hobby carries further infantry weapons in this range too, so a scene can be built up step by step.
The Type 3 was a Japanese heavy machine gun introduced in the time of the First World War and derived from the French Hotchkiss design. Its distinguishing marks were an air-cooled barrel with bold ribbing and a tripod mount it was carried on, thanks to which the weapon was served from a fixed position. In the 1920s and 1930s it was gradually replaced by the newer Type 92 in a different caliber, but the older pieces stayed in service later as well. For a modeler it is a weapon with a characteristic silhouette that a viewer recognizes at once and that places a scene in time and place.
Leave the small parts on the sprue as long as possible and separate them only just before seating them. Before painting, degrease the surface and apply a thin layer of primer, so that the further coats hold. Metal parts look good in a dark shade with the edges gently polished, and wooden surfaces can be brought out with a glaze applied over them. A wash into the ribbing of the barrel will give the weapon depth. A position comes out best when the crew has the marks of use around them - small crates, ammunition belts and trodden-down ground.
