A gunner from an artillery crew in 1:35 scale - one resin figure from the present-day line of the Ukrainian brand Spalah, item 1:35 Ukrainian Gunner Of The Artillery Crew (1pc).
Responsibility details are not available.
The subject is a single soldier assigned to an artillery crew. Where infantry figures tend to be caught in motion, figures at the gun typically have a working stance tied to a task at the weapon, which gives them a different character in a diorama. According to the name the box holds one piece, and the Spalah brand makes them from resin.
The soldier is done in present-day field dress of the kind that matches today's crews of artillery weapons. That is exactly why the figure comes into its own right beside a model of a gun or a howitzer, where it supplies the missing human scale and the scene stops looking like equipment on display without life.
After washing and taking off the supports comes a thin coat of primer; too heavy a coat clogs the fine relief of the clothing. Build the uniform up from a mid tone, add the highlights by stippling on the raised places, and let the shadows settle with a thinned dark shade. The boots and the lower part of the trousers take the most pigment, because that is where the dust holds on an artillery crew.
The figure is supplied unassembled and unpainted; the matching paints and glue have to be obtained separately, unless stated otherwise.
