The 1:35 US grenades set is a modeling accessory, not a kit. It contains miniatures of American hand grenades in 1:35 scale that are added to an already built model, to a figure or into a diorama scene. 1:35 is the most widespread scale for military vehicles, so the set suits the vast majority of vehicle and figure models in this category.
American hand grenades were part of the standard infantry kit: they were carried hung on straps and pouches, stored in metal and wooden boxes, and they appear in period photographs in practically every infantry scene and in vehicle beds. In 1:35 scale these are very small parts, yet they give a scene a sense of scale and credibility with far less work than another figure would.
Separate the pieces with a sharp scalpel on a cutting mat, not with nippers, so that they do not ping away. Cut any remnants of manufacture, that is, tabs or supports, away carefully and sand the face with fine sandpaper. Degrease the surface before painting. Given their size it pays to paint them while still on the carrier fret or stuck to a wooden stick with double-sided tape: a primer, the main shade, a light touch of dry brushing on the edges and a wash into the recesses. In a scene it is better to fix them with cyanoacrylate glue, as ordinary plastic cement will not hold on so small an area.
The set is supplied unpainted. Paints, glue and the base model are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
