A marching soldier with a long weapon over his shoulder, a ratio of 1:35 is at Dynamo-Models the fourth piece of the numbered series tied to Normandy in 1944. The load he carries determines the whole silhouette of the figure and sets it distinctly apart from the other numbers of the same series.
A figure with a bulky load on its shoulder creates a break in height in a column that the eye needs. Place it roughly in the middle of the group or at its end; if it goes first, it will overpower everything else. The silhouette of the weapon also works well against a light background, for example against the plaster of a house or against the sky when photographing a scene.
Leave the tubular weapon rather matte and dark, with gentle brightening of the upper edge so that it keeps its cylindrical shape. Deal with the clothing in the usual way, from the primer through a flat tone to the recesses. Finally add dust on the footwear and the calves and faint scuffs where the equipment rubs, that is on the knees, the shoulders and the elbows. Bring the strap across the chest out with a thin shadow on both sides, otherwise it will merge with the blouse and the figure will lose the impression of really carrying something heavy.
