A figure of an American paratrooper with a submachine gun on the march, 1:35 scale, the subject of Normandy 1944, number 6 in the line.
Responsibility details are not available.
American airborne infantry are among the best-known units of the fighting in Normandy in 1944. After the drop the soldiers moved on foot, with their equipment on them and without the support of heavy hardware, so a figure on the march captures their service best. The figure carries a submachine gun, a weapon suited to fighting at short range in the hedgerows and the narrow streets of Normandy villages.
It is one figure in 1:35 scale meant to complete a diorama or a display case. The number 6 in the designation sets this figure apart from the other positions in the same line, so a whole marching section can be put together in which the poses do not repeat. Details of the makeup of the package are given in the manufacturer's instructions.
Cut the surplus material and the traces of production off with a sharp blade a little way from the part and sand the remainder carefully, so that the straps and the pockets of the equipment stay legible. Make the joints with a glue matching the material; where it is not polystyrene, cyanoacrylate holds. Wash and degrease the figure before painting. Bring the straps and the webbing out with a shade different from the uniform, otherwise they will merge with the cloth. On a marching figure it pays to paint the boots and the lower part of the trouser legs last, so that they can be tuned to the surface the figure is walking on.
The figure is for builders of dioramas from the fighting in Western Europe and for collectors who put lines of figures together one piece at a time. Paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
