A figure of an American sniper in 1:35 scale, suited to a small scene and as an addition to a military hardware model.
Responsibility details are not available.
A sniper is a rewarding subject in modeling precisely because he is inconspicuous. His work rests on patience, on cover and on blending into the surroundings, so the figure tells a story on its own even without hardware around it. In a scene it can also be used as a counterweight to a busier view: while hardware is moving elsewhere, this figure keeps to one side and waits.
The figure shows best in a composition where the viewer does not find it straight away. Place it behind a low wall, in tall grass or in the shadow of rubble, so that the viewer discovers it only on a second look. In 1:35 scale an adult measures about five centimeters, so the figure fits vehicles, buildings and terrain accessories in the same scale. A small base the size of a palm is enough and the scene works even without further figures.
Cut any excess material away a little distance from the part with a sharp blade and sand the remainder, then wash, degrease and prime the surface. Join any parts with cyanoacrylate glue, which holds on ordinary modeling materials. Choose muted, broken-up colors: soften the patches and transitions so that the figure visually merges with the groundwork. It works well to paint the figure and the terrain in one palette and finally to tie the two together with a light wash and dusting. Keep the face and the hands in thin glazes and close the surface with a matte varnish.
The figure suits modelers who enjoy building small scenes with one figure, and also those who want to add a human element to American hardware in 1:35 scale in a display case. It also serves well as an exercise in painting camouflaged surfaces.
Paints, glue and the other material needed to finish it are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
