An alternative shape of weighted wheels with hub caps for the VW Type 82E Kafer 1:35 carries the number two and suits builds where two identical vehicles stand side by side.
Responsibility details are not available.
With this set the enclosed Type 82E staff car gets wheels whose contact patch has a different shape than on the first version. The tire is deflected at the bottom, a hub cap covers the rim and the size matches 1:35 builds.
The enclosed car on a field chassis was valued in the army for its dry interior and decent range. Staff officers, couriers with documents, doctors and officials of the occupation administration all rode in it, mainly in the rear areas and in Western Europe, where the road network was in good order. At the front it appeared less often, because an engine of small displacement had little in reserve for a fully laden car. It served reliably, though, and after the war a number of them returned to civilian use, where their owners drove them for many years more.
When two sedans meet in a scene, identically turned wheels give them away. A different contact patch shape solves that problem more simply than reworking the body. Add a different steering angle on the front wheels and a different degree of dust, and the vehicles begin to look like two separate machines with their own histories. Differently stowed loads on the back seat help as well.
