1:35 Waffen SS Officer In Long Coat, Normandy is a figure of a German officer in a long coat in 1:35 scale from PANZER ART.
Responsibility details are not available.
The figure captures a German officer in a long coat and the name places it in Normandy in 1944. The figure is kept separately and in the numbered PANZER ART series it neighbors further infantry themes from the same battlefield, so it can be put together into a larger group.
The Normandy summer and autumn meant changeable weather and a long coat is therefore a frequent motif in modeling scenes from this battlefield. For a composition it has one practical advantage: the silhouette of the figure is taller and more continuous, so among figures in fighting equipment it works as a calm vertical element. It pays, therefore, to place it off the center of the base, so that it does not divide the composition into two halves.
The long coat is a large continuous surface and it is precisely that which decides the result. Leave the basic tone rather more muted and create the volume with several thinned passes into the folds, not with one dark coat. The hem of the coat and the bottom of the figure will be dusted by a fine pigment, which anchors the figure to the terrain. Finish the face and the hands only at the end, with a markedly finer brush than the rest of the figure.
The painting and the integration into a scene are part of the modeler's work.
