Wheels for the Staghound armored car 1:35, a resin set

A resin accessory set from the Polish maker PANZER ART in 1:35 scale. This is not a vehicle kit but a replacement for the wheels on a model of the American armored car Staghound. On wheeled vehicles the tires are one of the few places where both the shape and the texture are seen close up, and a resin casting handles the tread pattern and the bulge of the sidewall better than a two-part plastic molding with a mold seam down the middle.

Use

• a replacement for the original plastic wheels on a Staghound model
• removal of the mold seam that on plastic tires runs down the center of the tread
• showing a weighted tire with a flattened contact patch
• a base for showing dusty and muddy running gear

How to work with the set

First wash the parts in lukewarm soapy water, so that the mold release agent disappears from the surface; without that neither paint nor glue will hold. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw or a knife and true the surface; protect your airways when sanding resin, because the dust is very fine. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue; cement for plastic does not work on resin. Before gluing, fit the wheels dry and check whether the hub seats and whether the vehicle stands level on all its wheels. Paint them separately, before you attach them.

Who the set is for

For modelers who build the Staghound in 1:35 scale and want to sharpen up the most visible detail of the vehicle, and for diorama makers, where the wheels tend to be in the foreground. Working with resin assumes cyanoacrylate glue and basic experience.

The set is an accessory, not a vehicle kit. The base model, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
