1:35 Bergepanther Ausf. A, early configuration — photo-etched set from Voyager Model is an aftermarket accessory for a kit you already own, not a model. The basic set of photo-etched brass is cut for the Takom 2101 kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
A detail set of brass sheet in 1:35 scale meant to be fitted to the finished Takom 2101 plastic kit. The set does not make up a model on its own. The manufacturer uses the Basic designation for sets in the basic scope, that is for the most commonly wanted replacements rather than for a complete rebuild.
The Bergepanther came about by reworking the chassis of the Panther tank into a recovery vehicle. The early configuration of the A version is recognized by the arrangement of the superstructure and by the tool clamps corresponding to the earlier Panthers; later examples had a different placement. The vehicle carried a winch, an anchoring spade and a wealth of equipment on the sides of the hull, which is a rewarding theme for photo-etched sets.
The main reason to reach for photo-etched parts is thickness. Injection-molded plastic cannot be cast below a certain limit, so parts such as holders, eyes, mesh or clamps look oversized in scale. Brass sheet is an order thinner and, once painted, comes across convincingly. Before you fit a metal part, though, trim the plastic original down to the surface of the hull, sand the trace of the cut and fill any grooves. An imperfect substrate shows more once painted than the photo-etched parts themselves.
The set is an accessory for a model, not a kit. The kit, glue, paints and tools are not included in the package.
