The set depicts complete rounds of 75 mm caliber, that is the shell together with the cartridge case, in 1:35 scale. It is not a kit of a vehicle or of a weapon; it is a separate accessory, with which the interior, the ammunition stowage or a diorama around an already built model is fitted out. It is not tied to one particular kit.
Guns of 75 mm caliber were among the most widespread American tank armament of the Second World War — they were carried by medium tanks and by other armored vehicles of the time. The round was fixed, so it was loaded as a whole: the shell firmly joined to the cartridge case. In the internal stowage of a vehicle whole rounds stowed side by side were therefore visible, a detail that does not hide in an open interior.
Typically in the ammunition stowage under the floor of the fighting compartment, in open boxes beside a vehicle or in the hands of figures replenishing ammunition. Small scenes work well too: a couple of rounds propped against a wheel, one passed through a hatch. It is precisely such little things that turn a model into a story.
Wash the parts in spirit first. Metal ammunition needs a base for metal, otherwise the paint comes off at the first handling. The cartridge case and the shell differ in material, so distinguish them in color and sheen as well — a smoother, glossier case and a more matte body of the shell come across as convincing at once. A short dark wash will bring out the transitions and light wear on the edges will suggest use. Check the particular markings and colors of the period against documentation for your build; they differed according to the type of round.
The set is an accessory for a plastic kit, which is not part of the package. Glue, paints and figures are not enclosed.
