An injection-molded plastic kit in 1:350 scale from Trumpeter. It is not one large model but a set of small carrier aircraft intended for completing the deck and the hangar of an aircraft carrier model in the same scale. The box holds a set of identical miniature models; glue and paints are not included.
The Douglas A-3 Skywarrior (A3D in the period designation) was a large carrier aircraft of the US Navy. In its day it was among the largest machines operating regularly from aircraft carriers and it was used in the strike, reconnaissance, electronic warfare and tanker roles.
Given the scale, the parts are very small, so precise separation from the sprue and liquid cement for plastic applied in small amounts work best. An airbrush or a brush with a fine tip and a coat of primer before painting prove their worth. The miniatures can be fixed to the deck in a folded or a deployed configuration according to what the diorama needs.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
